  1. Let me give you a little bit of background information about us first. I am twenty four years old. When I was four years old my father died of a brain tumor and when I was ten years old my mother died from Hotchkins disease. My mothers parents raised me until my grandfather had a sudden heart attack my first year of college. Now, it is just my grandmother and I. I do not have any siblings, but many friends and extended family that have kept me going through out the many years of grief.
I met my wonderful fiance, through mutual friends. After we met, a few months later I called and asked him out for a drink. Ever since then my life has been a better place. We have been together four years now and this past Valentine's Day he took me to our favorite local restaurant and as we were walking back to go the the movies, he popped the question!! I was taken back because two days before, his work, due to the economic situation, had told him they were going to have to lay him off or relocate him to Bluefield, Va, 5 hours from Richmond, Va where we were living. Of course, I said YES! Then we went into my apartment to let out the dog and there stood all of his and my family and our friends. It was a big Valentine's engagement party! It was the perfect moment.
Once the excitement calmed down, I realized the inevitable, he was leaving. Two weeks later, he moved to Bluefield and I stayed in Richmond to finish my Masters in Teaching and try and find a job. Five months later, when I was unable to find a job in the city, we decided my only choice was to move out with him.
So, we set the date August 7, 2010 because that is my parents wedding anniversary date. My flower girl is one of three children my uncle has, and they all mean so much to me. Since my mother pasted away my uncle has always been more of a brother to me and his children mean the world to me. I am so excited to have all of them in the wedding and know my flower girl would look beautiful in one of your dresses. Thank you for reading our story!

  2. My fiancĂ© Ben and I have been mentoring children who live in the Pueblo Del Rio housing projects in LA. I’ve been there for the past 7 years, the last 3 we’ve been there together. As one of the most violent and impoverished neighborhoods in LA, Pueblo provided an unlikely backdrop for our love story. It’s where we met and where Ben says he can pinpoint the moment he fell in love - one day when I was giving one of the children a piggyback ride and I happened to smile over at him. During our time there, we’ve gotten to build relationships with different children and their families but we’ve especially had the privilege of journeying with two sisters – one going into 5th grade and another going into 6th. We’ve asked them to write a poem for us and read it during the ceremony. The poem they will read is entitled “Your Love is My Love”. We’d love to gift them a dress to wear as they read their poem. I think they would look like princesses! Thanks for considering us!

  4. That's easy... I asked him. We were slowing getting back together a year after my, sorry our, daughter was born...We had broken up for about two years. During that time I began seeing another person. Well, when this person found out I was pregnant, he decided he wanted nothing to do with his child. Doug on the other hand, stayed by my side as a friend through everything. And he is a great father to both of our children.
Me knowing that no matter what we put each other through or where life had us going, we always found our way back to one another. Well I decided I was going to ask him on Father's Day. I went out and bought a 1/4 carat ring for him, preparing for Father's Day to come.(But the say timing is everything)

While we were talking one night, he was asked me what kind/style of ring I wanted if we ever got to that point again. I told him what I liked and that was it. When he went into the kitchen, I went to get his ring.(I had it hidden in the bedroom) I went into the kitchen and said 'I know what type of ring I would get you already.'(his back was to me) When he turned around, I was on one knee and said 'this type.' I asked him if he would do me the honor of becoming my husband and he said yeah, hell yeah! About six weeks later he asked me again. He came home with my ring this time. He listened to everything I wanted in a ring. I guess he had the same idea... because the jeweler said that my ring took six weeks.

  6. My fiance Dan and I first started dating when I was 16 years old. However our dating did not last long. We went to different schools and were both busy with separate lives. Dan never really left my life though. It seemed like everytime I was having a hard time or going through a break up he was there, even when I didn't want him to be there! 2 years ago I went to Australia for 6 months to live and study at this point I hadn't talked to Dan in nearly 2 years. I didn't even know how to contact him if I wanted to. But Dan had always kept my phone number and had finally gotten up the courage to call me. Since my US phone didn't work I didn't get the message until I got back to the states 5 months after he called! I decided to give him another chance to see if we were both still in love and to see if he had grown up enough for a serious relationship. The first time we got together I knew it was right. I finally found the person I had been looking for and he had been right there for the past 8 years.
6 months after our second first date we got engaged. Dan and I went to Christmas Eve service at our church with my parents. After the service we decided to walk up to the square downtown to see the lights. Dan had a present in his jeep that he asked me to go get and bring with me. I had no clue what was going on. When we got to the square, my parents decided to go inside while Dan and I walked around the square and sat on a bench under the big Christmas tree. He told me to open my present. When I did, it was a box of klenex! I was confused until I looked up at him and he was down on one knee in front of me! I have no clue what he said all I know is that I said yes. Dan had chosen the square because he knows I love the Christmas lights and it has special meaning to me because my families business was originally located there. I didn't know it then, but the tree behind us had lights sponsored in memory or honor of loved ones, Dan had lights in memory of my dad and granddad lite for me. So they were there even though they had passed away. After I said yes, we found my parents and then went to their house for Christmas dinner and then out to Dan's folks house to tell them the good news. That night when Dan had to go to his parents and I had to go to mine I never thought I would let him go. It was truly the hardest goodbye of my life. But in 6 weeks, he will be with me forever.

    That's our story. Thank you.

  7. Hi…
Now I can tell you an engagement story… or the wedding of my dreams… I can’t, I am not the one getting married. I can tell you a sad story or say how gifted my daughter is. I can tell you that I stop my career to have my daughter, live with my parents and help them, and my daughter is the most beautiful girl that doesn’t even look like me one bit. But it is not this either.
The reason that I would like to win this dress is to see my daughter walk down that aisle, take pictures with her aunt, new uncle and grandparents that she hasn’t see since she was 5, and finally have a family portrait of my daughter, me and my husband. I think this is the main reason! They say pictures are worth a thousand words, a picture to me shows art, beauty, love, and but most of a memory I can always treasure!

  9. There is not only one special moment with my Little Princess, but the most memorable for me, is when I carried her for the first time in my arms, knowing that she was a little piece of me. When she looked at me, for first time with those little eyes,I felt like the most blessing person for having that Precious Gift of Life.
